Storycraft for Sermons and Bible Talks

Do you feel called to hook hearts and minds for Christ? Enjoy learning to employ successful storytelling tools for creative, compelling, and impactful gospel teaching, whether in a sermon, a talk at youth group, a kids church spot, or any other context in which you are teaching God’s word.

Storycraft is everything that goes into constructing a good story: structure, character arcs, theme, and cultivating emotional engagement. Why add storycraft to your gospel teaching toolbox? Great question! The core elements of good stories, stories which grab us by the heart strings and deeply change how we act in the world, are not accidently effective, but threads which God has used since creation and throughout salvation history to woo humanity. When teaching the Bible, we don’t want to risk our process shaking the Bible free of story and presenting our listeners with a PowerPoint of facts about God. We want to learn to illuminate the story it is to change hearts.

While this workshop will be most directly applicable to those who preach sermons, the tools that are taught are relevant to youth leaders, scripture teachers, Sunday school teachers, and - given the all-inclusive call of the Great Commission to preach the gospel to all creation—absolutely every believer.

This masterclass will:

·       Introduce you to some of the tried and tested tools of storycraft.

·       Explore harnessing these tools to enhance your gospel teaching.
